Separate studies of effects of mixing and grinding on solid-state reaction of kaolinite with calcium carbonate

The effects of mixing and grinding on solid-state reactions were separately investigated using a wet-type super atomizer for dispersing particles without breaking them. reaction kaolinite [Al2Si2O5(OH)4] with calcium carbonate (CaCO3) to form metastable CaAl2Si2O8 was carried out, the raw materials being ground prior reaction. Notably, rough before resulted in gehlenite (Ca2Al2SiO7). After methoxy-modified kaolinite, an expanded (Ex-Kaol) swollen methanol, calcite particles, resultant mixed-methanol dispersion vigorously agitated one pass discharge pressure 200 MPa. No detectable change X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns observed between pristine treated materials, indicating that stacking order which dominates rate CaAl2Si2O8, not changed by treatment at gave after calcination 900 °C 4 h, although calcined product prepared from unground MPa contained gehlenite. results indicated both procedures dominated formation CaCO3.
